The Bible App for Kids

Many mornings my 3 year old comes downstairs and asks me if he can “read” his Bible. Funny thing is… he doesn’t know how to read yet. What he wants is my iPad so he can use The Bible App for Kids. While I’m usually not crazy about the amount of time he spends on our iDevices, I do make exceptions when it comes to this app.

The Bible App for Kids is a beautifully designed, interactive walk-through of the Bible. Kids have the opportunity to choose from dozens of well-known stories from both the Old and New Testaments. As the narrator reads a summary of events, kids can tap different parts of the screen and watch the image come to life. There have been mornings when I’ve listened to my son go through the same story half a dozen times. When he’s finished, both of us have the story nearly memorized.

Here’s what the creators have to say: “Designed specifically to engage children with stories from the Bible, The Bible App for Kids is a free interactive Bible experience from YouVersion, makers of The Bible App. Developed in partnership with OneHope, The Bible App for Kids will help your kids fall in love with God’s Word though easy navigation, colorful illustrations, touch-activated animations and special activities and challenges designed to help kids remember what they learn.”
