Adoption and Orphan Care

adoption-blogColonial wants to provide help, encouragement and assistance to married couples who choose to adopt. This is a new, but growing area of ministry for us. Be watching for additions and please let us know if you have ideas or suggestions for how we can serve those who seek to further the kingdom of God through the process of adoption.

Vision

Our vision for adoption and orphan care involves several areas:

  1. Churchwide culture. We want to reinforce that all Believers are adopted sons and daughters, and we want to promote a biblical perspective on the creation of interracial families through adoption and marriage.
  2. Adoption Ministry Focus
    1. Encouragement. We want to encourage and promote adoption. This could include education to broaden people's view of why adoption is important as well as instruction on God's heart for adoption. For families who have chosen or are considering adoption, we want to provide counseling, prayer, mentorship and relevant special events and seminars.
    2. Resources. We want to provide honest and helpful information about the various kinds of adoption and financial options. We would like to begin an adoption loan fund, offering interest free loans to church members for the purpose of adopting.
    3. Support. We want to provide support and prayer for adoptive families. Support might take the form of classes for those involved in the adoption process or help for those who are welcoming a new adopted child into their family.
  3. Orphan Care. We want to support and/or open orphanages in the most needy areas of the world, and specifically target areas where CBC people can develop ongoing relationships.
  4. Foster Care. We want to promote and encourage parents from Colonial to become involved as foster parents. We hope to develop partnerships with State and County agencies involved in supervising foster care.
