Family Dedication

Family Dedication is a time of celebration when parents publicly express their commitment to raise their child (of any age) in a home that honors Christ. It is done before the church to acknowledge the importance of being accountable to God and other Christians. Parents can publicly thank the Lord for the privilege of helping their child(ren) learn to respect and love God.

A family dedication is made of several important ingredients. First is the recognition that the child you hold is not yours, but God’s. God alone is the author and giver of life. Your child is not an accident, mistake, or even the outcome of your choice. Your child is a miracle of God’s amazing, creative power. This life, with all of its uniqueness and potential, is a gift from God. No person has your child’s exact personality, gifts, or fingerprints. What a marvelous thought!

No wonder the Psalmist exclaimed . . .

“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.”
– Psalm 139:13-14

Family Dedication is:

AN OPPORTUNITY TO CELEBRATE

Let’s celebrate! Our church body wants to join you in expressing gratitude and joy as we celebrate the great blessing God has placed in your family. Family Dedication allows the church to partner with you in your disciple-making efforts, pray for you, and encourage you as you look forward to all God will do through the life of your child.

A COMMITMENT TO GOD’S PLAN

A dedication is not just about the child; it’s about the entire family and the church. Making a commitment before the church is the first step.  However, when a family dedicates themselves to the Lord, they are saying “we will live for Him and raise our children according to the Word of God.”

A TIME FOR OUR CHURCH TO SUPPORT YOU

Training a child in the way they should go is the collective effort of the entire faith community. When the church partners with parents in family dedication, we’re not simply celebrating the gift of a child and the commitment of a parent. We’re embracing our responsibility to support families by teaching God’s Word, serving one another in love, training up disciples of Jesus Christ, and pointing others to the Lord.  If you would like to participate in our next Family Dedication on January 31, 2021 – please REGISTER HERE.
